When I first heard that Pop Up Chapel was teaming up with the Knot to create a special wedding event I knew it was going to be something spectacular. I was honored by the Knot to be chosen to be the exclusive photographer to document this event for the magazine. Twenty-four couples participated in making their marriage official one week after the State of New York allowed same sex couples to be legally wed. The joy and support was palpable as couples, guests and passerby’s celebrated in the moment.
Thank you to all the couples that came out to share their stories with New York. Thank you also to the State of New York and its citizens for making all of this possible.
ICRAVE and Z-A Studio’s designed two architecturally inspired chapels, David Stark provided the floral and countless volunteers contributed to make this day truly memorable.

City Cakes donated dolce with a sweet message for all the couples.
Volunteers celebrate with champagne after a long but rewarding day!

Making it official, the officiant signs the official City of New York marriage license for a couple.
Carley Roney, Cofounder and Editor In Chief, inspects the chapels at the beginning of the day.

This was my second time to Siena, having made a weekend trip during a semester abroad while studying in Florence some years ago. Siena just isn’t a place, its is a state of mind, and Plazzo Publicco, in the heart of Siena’s Campo, isn’t just any city hall, it’s the oldest continuously used public building in the world and a museum.
It was a simple wedding, but one with great respect to the spirit of the moment and weight of the location. It was an honor to be able to capture the intense love Carolin and Oliver share.
If you are looking for a place to get married in Italy, Palazzo Pubblicco is a great place to start looking. With intimate receptions sites abound, it is sure to be a great experience for you and your guests!
