I was fortunate to be there to photograph Serah and Min’s wedding back in 2009.  We had kept in touch as friends on facebook and I was excited to see that Serah had became pregnant and soon after welcomed Dillon into the world last summer.   This spring they asked me to come to their home, meet Dillon and document this moment in their lives.  Although I photograph both weddings and portraits, this was the first time I have had a chance to photograph the next generation from a couple who’s wedding I had photographed.

Please enjoy some of my favorite images of Dillon at 8 months in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

I’ve know Seth for several year’s and was thrilled when he asked me to photograph his wedding.  Seth is the kind of guy who will get up at 5am to run or workout before heading into a 10-12 work day on 6 hours of sleep, but you probably wouldn’t find him in the yoga studio or dance class.  It was to my surprise, as well as to the surprise of Seth’s Parents, Megan’s parents and groomsmen looking on in the back that Seth, light on his feet, raised Megan in the air balancing on his toes.    Its one moment at the wedding that sums up the joy between them and their family and friends there to celebrate.  You don’t have to see Seth or Megan faces to know what this moment is all about.

Tara’s right hand is embracing and supportive the other delicately posed on the soft of Brian’s neck.   His hair clean and neat, his suit tailored and fitted,  his back strong and leading, her eyes…her eyes…her eyes…

With the down time this winter I’ve been spending a lot of time going through weddings I’ve been so fortunate to have been able to be apart of and selecting images for this new website and blog.  I’ve added many large galleries of specific weddings and I am working on a gallery of favorite moments.  Instead of putting up the entire gallery of selected images for the favorites all at once, I’ve decided to release one image at a time over several weeks and explain each of the moments that these images represent.

Mary and Jason wanted their reception to be fun, participatory with lots of revelry.  In addition to the great connection between Mary and Jason, there was a similar connection between the guests and, especially the bridal party, in enjoying the moment.  A live band played for several hours, after which the karaoke was rolled out.  As the music started to play, the groomsmen took turns with the mic belting out some of their favorites.  Jason then grabbed the mic and jumped up on stage with the groomsmen in full sync, waling out his song to waving jazz hands! It was as if they had choreographed the routine for an appearance on American idol the night before.  The gesture of hands, expressions on the faces, Jason’s concentration and Mary looking on in admiration (or surprise) tell their story.  This moment gives new meaning to the title wedding party!

Chrystal and I were reminiscing about our honeymoon this weekend while planning a trip this upcoming June to Italy. We spent a few weeks in Croatia, Switzerland and Italy on our honeymoon a year and half ago and queued up some of the video clips and mini-moves I made and posted to you tube. To our amazement one of the videos had been viewed over 5000 times!!! Many couples and travelers looking for information and images on Hvar had found our video. Hvar, is a small Island off the upper west coast of Croatia in the Adriatic sea which it also shares with Italy. We remember getting off the plane in Trogir and hopping the 2 hour ferry after flying directly from our wedding in North Carolina the day before. It was over 100 degrees, the perfect respite from months of planning and the enjoyment of our wedding. It was the perfect place to explore on a scooter, splash in the clear blue water and sample the micro-local food scene. Let me know what you think of the video:

Amazing video recap of the honeymoon. Give Chrystal my best :)
